Things to Do

If you are staying in Warsaw before or after our wedding, we have a few recommendations for you to explore.


SIGHTSEEING


1) Walk along the Royal Way (1.2 miles/30 minute walk), one of Warsaw’s most famous streets.

Stops along the way :

-Blikle and Bar Mleczny Familyijny - two famous restaurants in Warsaw.

-Copernicus Statue - stands in the center of Copernicus Square.

-Church of the Holy Cross

-Chopin Bench - each black marble bench plays music by Chopin; look for the button and listen closely.

-Pilsudski Square and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

-Presidential Palace, the site of the signing of the Warsaw Pact in 1955.

-St. Anne’s Church - time it right and you can see a free piano concert.


2) Old Town Observation Tower (climb 150 steps up to the top to see one of the best views of Warsaw; located next to St. Anne’s Church.


3) Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy) a large, open square surrounded by colorful buildings, cafes, and the Royal Castle.


4) Royal Castle - large reddish pink building in the center of Castle Square. Outside might look a little plain, but it is very opulent on the inside.


5) The Old Town (Stare Miasto) & The Old Town Market Square. We recommend taking a free walking tour; you can sign up online. They occur daily. Look for the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Statue of the Little Insurgent and the Mermaid Statue.


6) Warsaw Uprising Monument - sits right outside of the Supreme Court and is a short walk from the Old Town.


7) Warsaw Uprising Museum (free on Mondays)


8) Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews (free on Thursdays). This museum tells the story of Jews in Poland from the middle ages to present time. The museum recommends getting your tickets online ahead of time.


9) Jewish Ghetto Memorial (Pomnik Bohaterow Getta) Sitting right in front of the Polin Museum is a large monument that commemorates those who fought and died during the Warsaw ghetto uprising. This monument and the Polin Museum sit in the heart of what once was the Warsaw Jewish Ghetto.


10) The Jewish Cemetery (Cmentarz Zydowski), one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in the world. It is estimated that there are over 250,000 graves. It opened in the 19th century and it was used in World War II as a site of executions and for the burials of victims in the Warsaw ghetto uprising.


11) Lazienki Park (Lazienki-Krolewskie); a large park located a short distance from the Royal Way with rolling hills, lakes, historical buildings and gardens. *The museum there is highly recommended - Lazienki Królewskie Museum.


12) Chopin Museum. Chopin spent his first twenty years in Warsaw; this is where he went to school and studied music.


13) Copernicus Science Center


14) National Museum; Warsaw’s main art museum. It contains Polish art plus works of art from ancient Greece and Egypt as well as a private collection of European art.


15) Learn how to cook Pierogi in Warsaw - many cooking classes to choose from online.


16) Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów


17) Polish Vodka Museum


18) Neon Museum in the Praga District


19) Treblinka tour - Nazi death camp second to Auschwitz (90 minute drive outside of the city)


20) Stroll Saxon Garden


21) Take a hike at Kampinos National Park (35 min car ride outside of the city)


22) See a show at Teatr Dramatyczny or the Grand Theatre - check their website to see what’s on during your visit.


23) Mokotow Field (Pole Mokotowskie), a park that is a home to the famous Polish National Library, a handful of bars, and a two-kilometer educational trail.


24) Visit Warsaw’s Nightmarket - Warsaw’s finest street food (Open Thursday - Sunday)
