Mary and Scott met in grade 9 science class while attending Nantyr Shores and quickly felt a connection. In full Scott fashion, his first words to Mary were: "Who do you think would win in a fight, Superman or Spider-man?" and after that the two were inseparable in every class they shared. Eventually they began spending time together outside of school, and on June 20th, 2009, Scott officially asked Mary to be his girlfriend. In August of 2011, they moved into their first apartment, in Woodbridge, Ontario. They lived there for 5 years together, along with their dog Bandit (who could finally move in with them after a change in landlords); both attended post secondary school while living in Woodbridge. Then in August of 2016, they moved into their second apartment in London, Ontario, where Mary is currently in her last year of teacher's college at Western University. Bandit is especially fond of London, where he gets to take lots of walks and runs along the Thames River, and spend his days on the balcony! It was in London that Scott proposed to Mary, with the help of his faithful sidekick, Bandit. On June 21, 2017, the day after their 8 year anniversary, Scott placed a ring on some string, and draped it around Bandit's neck. When Bandit jumped on the bed to wake Mary, Scott knelt down on one knee. After discovering the ring hanging from Bandit's neck, and seeing Scott on his knee, Mary's exact words were "Are you serious?!"
