<p>Hey yall! This is Denison Jones, the luckiest man in the world. I shortly get to marry the most beautiful woman who I adore. Here’s my version of our story!In the Fall of our Junior year of college, Mary Cain visited Furman University for a weekend so that she could attend Jim a sorority function with her best friend Mackenzie, who happened to be a good friend of mine at the time. In my first memory of Mary Cain, she was performing a dance move called ‘The Mop’ on the dance floor. This caught my eye. I was highly impressed with the dance move, but honestly had little to no idea of the quality of a woman that was behind the dance move…until my friend Mackenzie raved on and on about her. So like any smart man who hears about an impressive Godly woman, I asked Mackenzie to give me Mary Cain’s number, to which she responded ‘no…’ so six months later I tried again, and Mackenzie yet again in a polite manner said ‘no.’ Mackenzie in her maturity realized something that I had no capability of processing at the time and still can’t fully process to this day…MC is a legit woman, and a radical disciple of Christ, so not just anyone can take her on a date (Thank you Mackenzie!)Nearly a year later, I was going to be in Athens, GA, for my brothers wedding. Knowing that Mary Cain went to the University of Georgia, I gave it one last shot. I asked Mackenzie for Mary Cain’s number and got the digits. On the morning of my brothers wedding, I took Mary Cain on an 8am date to 1000 faces coffee shop in Athens. Oftentimes, I tell people about how I had a list of characteristics that I desired my future wife to have. Boxes to check off if you will. On that date with Mary Cain, I quickly discovered that not only was she going to check everything off, but she showed me my list was not good enough. My list was actually pretty bad. She blew away the bar. I saw leadership with a submissive heart to Christ. I saw boldness in her faith with a real sense of meekness. I saw a willingness to share gospel centered truth with a real compassion for people. I saw a beautiful confidence that was the direct result of Jesus being Lord of her life. It was over, I was jaw on the floor, absolutely sold, itching for her to tell me that she would give me a shot at pursuing her. As I dropped her back off at her house, I told her “I’m going to ask you on another date, so you have a few days to come up with a really good excuse as to why you don’t want to go on another, otherwise I’m coming back to Athens to take you on a second date.” What she didn’t know was that I was coming back anyways. There was no way I was missing out on what God is doing in Mary Cain’s life, absolutely no way. If you know Mary Cain at all, none of these attributes surprise you. She’s just fascinating and amazing to be around. My honest goal in marriage with her is to just enjoy watching her bless person after person as she lives in the identity that she so clearly understands and walks through everyday. Whatever I can do to bring that alive, I trust God will provide for me to do just that. Mary Cain, I can’t wait to make a story with you for all our days on this side of eternity, what will hopefully just be a mist until we get eternity together. We have a courtesy block for guests to reserve rooms at the Hyatt in Downtown Athens at a discounted rate of $184 per night when booked through the reservation link! There is a limited number of rooms in the block so booking early is encouraged. The hotel is 1.1 miles away from our Wedding site, approximately a 5 minute drive!
