Clare: At Thomas Aquinas College. I was the class below him, and I noticed him first. I adjusted my schedule a little so that we would be studying in generally the same place at the same time, until we became study buddies. Then he asked me out.

Michael: She kept sitting at my table in the evenings while I drank my coffee and did homework. She caught my interest because she was cute and I found her company pleasant.

Clare: We had gone on one date, then I asked him to wait until the next school year before we officially started dating, and he agreed. For the rest of the school year and over the summer, we talked a lot, and he was really there for me in a way that made me sure. That was how I knew, and everything since then just keeps confirming and reinforcing my decision.

Michael: I more or less knew when I asked her out. I knew for sure when she said yes.

Clare: One of the most unexpected things I’ve learned about him is that he played the drums in school band.

Michael: The most unexpected thing is that she can be surprisingly feisty in some situations and surprisingly demure in others. It’s like a mystery box sometimes.
