Every modern-day love story almost always starts on a dating site.
Mary and Josh matched on Hinge and instantly hit it off after Josh's opening line of "Hey howdy, hey." From there, the two communicated via lengthy texts about music, interests, jobs, and so much more. Mary scoped through Josh's dating profile and recognized a mutual friend. Because of this mutual friend, she thought "If Josh is friends with this guy, then Josh HAS to be a good person." After several failed attempts at a first date because of COVID and night-shift clinicals, Josh and Mary finally met up. They had their first date at 78th Street Art Studios in Gordon Square. It's safe to say Josh was VERY nervous. He was quiet but had the sweetest twinkle in his eye. Initially, Mary thought she was doomed because the first-date location was loud and full of people, making conversation difficult. Because of that, Mary and Josh took their date to Buckeye Beer Engine in Lakewood and that's truly where it all clicked. They stayed at Buckeye Beer Engine conversing and laughing until it closed, Josh gave Mary a big bear hug goodnight, and he told her to text him when she got home safe.
That simple and sweet interaction sealed the deal. After that, you could say "The rest is history" because Mary and Josh knew after that first date they had found their person.
Josh and Mary got engaged on July 7th, 2023! According to Josh, Mary knew way too much about the engagement. She tried to figure out every detail and Josh would remind her to "let me have this one thing". Josh had asked Mary's parents for their blessing - which Mary had also figured out. For a few weeks, Mary was anticipating a proposal, but Josh held his bluff. Fast forward to the Thursday before Josh proposed and Mary's best friend Trinty went into active labor. Mary would be accompanying Trinity during her birth, so Mary's focus was completely on that. All the while, Josh was conspiring with Trinity and Erin. The girls got Mary out of the house on Friday, attempted to get her nails done (Mary did not get a manicure, but instead got the opposite - a pedicure) and took her out to dinner. Whilst Trinity was having contractions at dinner, Mary was thinking they would be taking a trip to the hospital soon. During that dinner, Josh was prepping the apartment. He strung lights on the wall, had rose petals throughout the room, and even put their cat in a tuxedo. When Mary walked into the apartment after dinner, to her surprise, Josh was waiting there for her with the ring in his hand.
