By some inexplicable miracle, at a dinner for central Ohio students who'd been admitted to Notre Dame, Mary, Michael and both of their parents happened to take note of each other from across the room, not immediately interact with each other, and subsequently recognize each other several weeks later on move-in day at Notre Dame. Upon spotting the McAllister family on God quad, Michael's father had the great tact/boldness/ambition-to-embarrass-his-firstborn-son to shout, "HEY, COLUMBUS!!!" Paralyzed, embarrassed, shy, and profoundly intimidated by her adorableness, Michael officially met Mary, and two became each other's first new friends under the dome. (Michael has mixed feelings about having his father's antics to thank for meeting the love of his life.)Fast forward five years, Mary and Michael found themselves on a casual friend hang-out at the Park of Roses in Columbus, discussing existentialism, the universe, time travel, and other nerdy stuff. Between a walk and dinner at Northstar, Michael managed, with uncharacteristic smoothness and impulsivity, to turn a friend-date into a date-date! The timing, naturally, was absurd-- less than two weeks before Michael drove back to Houston for the school year. Those two glorious weeks would be dubbed the "Bliss Weeks" in many later recollections. The following two years were survived thanks to Mary and Michael flying to each other with ever increasing regularity. They spent visit after visit walking, talking, brunching, and watching every single Hayao Miyazaki film ever produced. Michael eventually had the good sense to move home to Columbus (third best decision he's ever made, after asking Mary to marry him, and the whole turning a friend-date into a date-date thing). Now four years, countless brunches, walks, and boxes of wine, one cat, 16 houseplants, and one house later, Mary and Michael are continuing to enjoy each and every glorious day as an extension of the "Bliss Weeks" that, really, never ended :). And they can't wait for you to join them as they celebrate their marriage / their newest life upgrade to Husband &amp; Wife!
