a love so close to home

Mary and Jimmy both grew up in the town of East Northport, NY, only a couple of miles away from each other. Having gone to two different schools, their paths had not crossed until later in life. Jimmy moved to Melville when he was 20, but still travelled to East Northport occasionally. Prior to traveling for vacation, Jimmy, although not a regular facebook user, logged into his facebook and saw Mary pop up on “friends suggested list”. Jimmy messaged Mary and the rest was history. Jimmy was so excited to meet Mary, he arranged for a first date the day after he arrived back from vacation. Through text conversation, Mary and Jimmy learned that they grew up just a couple miles apart. The more the two spoke, the more they found out how close they had been to each other their entire lives and never even knew. On their first date, which was a Wednesday, Jimmy picked Mary up at her house and they went to the bowling alley. Mary laughed at every corny joke Jimmy had made which made them both feel so comfortable around each other. Being a Wednesday night with not many food establishments open, they opted for Applebee’s. The second and third date transpired, and it was clear to them both that they wanted to be a permanent part of each other’s lives. Jimmy had asked Mary to be his girlfriend on January 28th, 2020, and subsequently getting engaged exactly three years later on January 28th, 2023 in Curacao, where they first started talking through text. Everyone who speaks to Jimmy and Mary always claim they have never seen or experienced a couple like them. Chivalrous, respectful, fun, happy, and always knowing that if they have each other, everything in life is perfect. They are each other’s life support. The couple often talks openly about how crazy it is that they have gone their entire lives living so close to each other and have not met until now. Ironically, they will be wed in their hometown of East Northport where it all started. They were brought into each other’s lives for a divine reason, and they found each other when they were not even looking. Mary and Jimmy are a living true testament of finding love so close to home.
