Our Wedding

Chandler and Mary met on a spring break mission trip to the Dominican Republic in March 2022. Chandler chose to sit next to Mary during an icebreaker game the very first night simply because of the fact that she was wearing a Sigma Chi t-shirt (the fraternity he was in). Mary was a freshman, and Chandler was a Junior at the time, and they began their story simply as friends. Soon after spring break, the two met again during Sigma Chi's Derby Days philanthropy week and also spent two weeks together in Destin, Florida, at the beginning of the summer for a CRU event meant for Greek Life students

How They Met

Soon after the two returned to Georgia Southern, Mary's sorority, Phi Mu, was hosting its first date night of the year, Back to School Bash. Mary planned to attend with just friends until Chandler decided to invite himself as her date. She agreed, and Chandler attended the first of many Phi Mu date nights. Little did Mary know, she would never take a different boy as her date again. From that point on, Mary and Chandler talked to each other regularly. Chandler finally asked Mary on their first date in November 2022, and then made it official on January 28, 2023.

The Love Story Begins

Mary and Chandler spent the rest of their time in college together, whether it was at a Phi Mu or Sigma Chi event, hanging out with each other's friends, going for late-night Sonic runs, going to church or CRU together, or simply cooking dinner for each other at night. Chandler stayed a full 5th year at Georgia Southern to be with Mary in Statesboro longer (and to hold an executive position with his fraternity). Once he graduated, he began to pursue his dream as a lawyer, attending Faulkner University's Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama. Mary has just recently finished her degree at Georgia Southern in elementary education, and the two are ecstatic to be able to do life together after December.

The Years Since

On December 14, 2024, Mary’s best friend, Gigi, told her they were going to go to Savannah for a “girls day”. She picked Mary up from her house and they spent the whole day talking about the wedding vision she had in her mind- little did she know it would all become reality in a few short hours. After leaving river street, Gigi told Mary she was “craving a sweet treat” (which wasn't unusual for Gigi) and that she had a spot in mind for just that. They then went to Forsyth park where Chandler was waiting to get on one knee. After the proposal, Mary was able to surprise her whole family (minus her dad) about the exciting news, while Mary’s dad, Chandler, and his sweet family had planned an entire engagement party under everyone’s noses. Let the wedding planning begin!
