As summer approached, Mary was preparing for her final years as a Gamecock at the University of South Carolina. She was excited to move into her new apartment at Granby Mills with her best friend since freshmen year, Carrie.
Mary and Tim’s paths crossed several times throughout the last four years- but each found themselves drawn in separate directions. Carrie mentioned to Mary several times that she felt like Tim, the witty and sarcastic Chi Psi, would be a perfect match for her. However, Mary found herself busy with two jobs and a different set of friends. The two never connected.
It wasn’t until Tim’s second to last night at college that the two would finally find themselves in each other’s company.
Tim was graduating and moving back to his home state of Delaware. Since Carrie and Mary needed new apartment furniture, Carrie was able to convince Mary to journey over to Tim’s house to see what items they no longer needed.
A few Irish coffees and some beer-flavored “glove-man” (hamburger helper) later, Mary was sold on a giant television, a bathroom shelf, two-“rolly chairs”, and Tim’s sarcastic humor.
They spent the rest of the night laughing and watching Pirate Radio.
Mary was smitten with Tim but knew that he was leaving to Delaware the next day. She did not expect to see him again.
However, Tim was persistent. He got Mary’s number from Carrie and began to text Mary daily. They talked about everything from game of thrones to their future plans. Each day, Mary became more and more excited to hear from Tim.
Yet- she still knew there was a slim chance of ever seeing him again.
Eventually, Tim made the trip to South Carolina and later flew Mary to Delaware for a weekend at the beach.
Their long distance relationship continued until Mary graduated the following year and decided to take a leap of faith and move to Delaware.
They can’t wait to share the next chapter of their story...
