Mary and Austin first met in the summer of 2021 playing in a sand volleyball league with mutual friends in Iowa City. They had dated long distance for some time while Mary was in graduate school at the University of Iowa and Austin worked in Minneapolis. Upon graduation in May 2022, Mary and Austin decided to move in together in Minneapolis. Mary and Austin loved exploring a new city together, trying all of the restaurants, escaping to different lakes, and even getting snowed in, at times.


In August 2023, the couple booked a trip to New York City. The trip was based around the US Open tennis tournament, so Mary had thought. Austin proposed in the hotel room, on the second night of the trip, in between attending the tennis tournament and heading out for a comedy show and celebratory drinks. The two kept the news a secret from family and friends for the rest of the trip and shared all of the joy once they returned home.


We are the best of friends and align on so many personality traits. We cannot wait to spend the rest of time together. We are so excited to celebrate our love with you in October!
