One day Mary was talking to Kate (her sister-in-law) after a v-ball game. Brett noticed her from a distance.

Many years later, Brett's friend from out of town came around during Fourth of July week. They decided to go out one night. Brett jokingly told Lexi (Kate's best friend) that she should tell Kate to invite Mary. Lexi told Kate and Kate sent the invite.

Mary got a text from Kate, who said some of the siblings and her cousins were going out. She decided last minute to go.

She got to Babs and looked around. She saw Lexi and went over to join the group there. Lexi started introducing the friends that were there and all of a sudden, a hand shot toward her along with a "Hi, I'm Brett"... They spent the rest of the night shooting pool and talking. After many hangouts, a lot of talks, and a good deal of prayer later, things worked themselves out.
