Kalemegdan Fortress was built in the 1st century and developed over the years into the Roman stronghold, then into the Byzantine kastel. After that, it became the medieval Capital of Serbia, and finally an Austrian / Ottoman artillery fortification. Kalemegdan Fortress makes a unique cultural and historical complex within Kalemegdan park. Belgrade Fortress is today a cultural property of great importance, and a venue for frequent cultural, artistic and entertainment events. This is a must see in Belgrade, and great for a walk.
This is where the fun happens (apart from our wedding of course). Skadarlija is Belgrade’s most iconic historic street, often referred to as the “Montmartre of the Balkans.” This cobblestone lane, nestled in the heart of the city, captures the spirit of old Belgrade with its 19th-century architecture, vintage lanterns, and vibrant atmosphere. Once home to Serbian poets, artists, and intellectuals, Skadarlija remains a hub of bohemian culture, live music, and traditional Serbian hospitality. In short, Skadarlija is a must visit to experience the soulful nightlife of Belgrade with amazing food and live music.
The Temple of Saint Sava (Hram Svetog Save) is one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world and an enduring symbol of Serbian spirituality, history, and resilience. Dominating Belgrade’s skyline with its grand white marble façade and gleaming green dome, the temple is dedicated to Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and a key figure in the country’s cultural heritage.
Knez Mihailova Street is Belgrade's main pedestrian thoroughfare, a vibrant central artery famous for its 19th-century architecture, bustling shops (from international brands to local crafts), outdoor cafes, street performers, and historical landmarks like the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) and connection to Kalemegdan Fortress. It's a protected city landmark and a cultural hub, perfect for shopping, people-watching, and experiencing the heart of Belgrade's social life
Zemunski Kej is a prominent urban neighborhood and riverside promenade in Belgrade, Serbia, located along the right bank of the Danube River. It is one of the city’s most popular areas for recreation, dining, and sightseeing. With so many cafes along the waterside, it is the perfect place to grab a coffee or try some Serbian dishes. We advise out of town guests to stay in this area as it is walking distance to the wedding venue. The promenade is famous for its large population of swans and ducks, which visitors frequently feed.
