Some may not know this, but in this digital age we did in fact meet on one of those silly dating apps. Just several months into dating however, Kathryn was offered a 6-month position in San Francisco and Mason asked if he could come. She said yes (for the first time), he quit his job, and the adventure began.

It was a Tuesday in late September.

During a trip to Acadia National Park, Mason really wanted to watch the sunrise (not an uncommon event in our relationship) from the place it can first be seen in the United States. We got up at 4am and hiked the steep 1100-foot Champlain Mountain in the pitch dark as golden hour began (in near record time, in fact). Mason, the amateur photographer he is, set up his camera to capture some photos of the morning. When he asked Kathryn to take a picture together, this would be the second yes she would say in the next few minutes.
