We first met in our AP U.S. History class at Fredericksburg High School in October 2015 when Mason moved from Cypress, Texas to Fredericksburg. After graduating in 2017, we attended the University of Texas at Austin (Brooke) and University of Wyoming (Mason) and stayed good friends over the next few years, seeing each other occasionally over Christmas and summer breaks.
Our friendship grew during 2020 after Brooke and friends visited Mason in Wyoming for a state-wide road trip, which also solidified our desire to live out west after college. We continued to deepen our friendship over long distance until Brooke moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado - many hours closer to where Mason lived in Wyoming.
From Brooke - Mason had been, and continues to be, my best friend for a long time and because of Mason's faith, patience, steadfastness and adventurous spirit, the Lord made it clear that I was not supposed to live without him! After several long years, we started dating in July 2023.
From Mason - After fostering many years of strong friendship with Brooke, I already knew I wanted to spend my life with her long before we even started dating. I knew I wanted to propose sooner than later, and after 11 months of dating I managed to pull off a surprise engagement with the help of Brooke's friends in the mountains of Colorado. Asking Brooke to be my wife was a surreal moment that I'll never forget.
