Q + A

Does Greece have the same electrical outlets & plugs as the U.S.?

No, Greece has different plugs and you will need a European travel plug adapter. Make sure you take a look at the voltage and watts. Here’s the ones we use: 2 Pack European Travel Plug... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B27HX6P7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share P.S. I’ve blown many fuses and ruined many straighteners. You’ll likely end up wearing hair naturally, but if you prefer to have a straightening iron, I recommend you purchase one in Greece. I got mine at an electrical store for about $40 Euro.

How do I get to Lemnos?

We typically fly out of Logan/Boston Airport or Bradley/Hartford and fly direct to Athens, Greece. Then there is a short connecting flight (about 45 minutes) from Athens, Greece to Lemnos. We encourage you to spend time in Athens to see the Acropolis/Parthenon and visit other islands or places in Europe. There are many islands just a boat ride away. Some friends have mentioned stopping in France or Amsterdam on the way. The world is your oyster!

What type of clothing do we bring?

Greece is very casual and can get very hot in the summer. Lemnos is a small island so there is a nice breeze. We recommend you bring light and loose clothing and comfortable shoes. Ladies, if heels are a must, we recommend wedges or a block heel, as most roads are still cobblestone. Lemnos is very casual! Anything goes! You’ll find yourself in flip flops, bathing suits, shorts and sun dresses most of the time!

Where are your favorite other places to visit?

We have personally been to Crete and Athens and recommend both! Matina’s mom’s family is from the southern island of Crete, particularly Xania, also known as Chania. Crete is a large island and has a lot to see! Many of our friends will be going here after the wedding. We recommend paying Crete a visit if you have time! Athens is where you will find the well known Acropolis and many other sites. You will stop here on your way to Lemnos. Athens is where you can easily take boat rides to other well known islands such as Santorini, Naxos, and Paros.

When should we book our flights and accommodations by?

We recommend you book your hotel by January. Lemnos is a small island and if you plan to stay together with family and friends, we want to ensure you have the best experience and availability to be together. Flights can be booked anytime after January. You won’t find many flights available over 6 months out. The recommended time is 3-6 months. On average, we spend approx $1200. You can find for more or less depending on stops, starting place, etc. If you ask Matina, you can book your flight a couple weeks before. Mike prefers to book by April. This is why we make a great team 😆 You may Google or the Hopper App to track flights and notify you when prices drop. You’ll find more options as you get closer to July.

Are children welcome?

We love children and are happy to welcome them to celebrate with us! We kindly ask that parents ensure their little ones respect the dance floor and the fun for all our guests.
