Matt and Kim’s journey began in 2015, when they met as freshmen in a chemistry class at college. What started as a simple connection over lab experiments soon blossomed into a strong friendship. On July 4th, 2019, everything shifted. As fireworks lit up the night sky, Matt and Kim officially became a couple. But their love story wasn’t without its challenges. Over the next three years, they navigated the ups and downs of long-distance life — Matt living by the beach and Kim in the mountains. Despite the distance, their connection only deepened, and they found ways to make it work.

Eventually, they both found themselves in Washington, D.C., where they built a life together. From the vibrant city energy to the charm of their Adams Morgan neighborhood, Matt and Kim have fallen in love with the life they've created here. It’s in this city that they’ve built their home, embraced their careers, and found a sense of belonging in each other and their community.

On Christmas Eve 2023, Matt surprised Kim with a proposal — a perfect moment filled with love and holiday magic. As snowflakes fell, Matt got down on one knee, and Kim said yes, marking the beginning of their next chapter.

On April 4, 2024, they made their marriage official in an intimate ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial — the very spot where Matt had proposed. As the sun rose, Tyler Morris officiated their vows, with Annie Morris as their witness, in front of one of the nation’s most iconic landmarks. It was a quiet, personal moment that set the tone for the lifetime of love and adventure that lay ahead.

While their courthouse ceremony marked the start of their married life, Matt and Kim have always dreamed of celebrating their love with their friends and family. That celebration will take place on Kim's birthday — making it an even more meaningful and joyful occasion. They will gather in the heart of Washington, D.C., in their beloved Adams Morgan neighborhood to mark the official celebration of their love.

Matt, an Army commander, is preparing to transition out of the Army and pursue an MBA at Georgetown University. Kim, a proud "corporate girly". Together, they’ve built a life of support, adventure, and shared dreams, and they’re excited to see what the future holds as they continue their journey side by side.
