The East Coast Trail travels 270 km along the eastern coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. Some of our favourite trails include: Sugarloaf Path (Logy Bay - Quidi Vidi), Father Troy's Path (Torbay - Flatrock), and Deadman's Bay Path (Fort Amherst - Blackhead, or go a bit further to Cape Spear).
For the best views of the city and potential whale sightings, the Signal Hill Hike is literal steps from downtown St. John's.
For those looking for something a bit less strenuous, check out the Grand Concourse trail system, Long Pond or Quidi Vidi Lake.
A former fishing village minutes from downtown St. John's, Quidi Vidi Village is a must-visit.
While there, check out Quidi Vidi Brewery, Mallard Cottage or the Wharf at Quidi Vidi for food and drinks.
The most bars and pubs per square foot anywhere in North America. Need we say more?
Starting only a few days after the wedding, the 40th installment of the infamous George Street Festival is slated to run July 31 to August 6, 2025.
A relatively new addition to St. John's, the Pedestrian Mall is home to many of the best shops and restaurants in St. John's.
For the best boat tour with cod jigging and fish and chips, take a trip on QV Charters with Kate's uncle Ted.
For the most efficient option, organize a group of 12 and charter a full trip.
Gros Morne National Park is arguably the coolest place on the entire eastern seaboard of North America. If you want to experience the magic, you'll want to devote at least 4 days to this part of your trip.
Message Matt for recommendations, but a quick-hits list of our favourate places include:
Of course, Gros Morne National Park
Galliot Studios and Cafe, Woody Point
Marble Mountain (though this is more of a winter thing)
Marble Inn (the nordic spa, in particular)
Newfound Sushi, Corner Brook
For those looking to explore another part of NL, but without enough time to experience the West Coast, the Bonnavista Pennisula is one of our favourite places to visit.
To experience our engagement weekend, stay (and eat) at the amazing Fisher's Loft Inn, visit Two Whales Cafe and Port Rexton Brewery, hike the Skerwink trail, drive to Bonavista to eat at Boreal Diner, and hike to the abandoned community of British Harbour (where Matt got on a knee).
On your way, stop in Clarenville (Kate's hometown) for a coffee and sandwich at Bare Mountain Cafe.
For the ambitious ones, be the first to see the sunrise at the most easterly point in North America.
