Tim & Matt met in April 2020 on a dating app. Despite being in the midst of a global pandemic, they started their journey together. The first date was a 3 hour facetime call which solidified their communication and eventually led to long date walks together.
One day they had a Covid scare. After taking tests and determining that both of them were negative, Matt & Tim wanted to have a proper date together.
The new couple underwent many ups and downs during the first year of their relationship. Matt lost his job twice during the pandemic and Tim was seeking a new career path. Despite the world being in chaos, Matt & Tim got new jobs on the same day!
In February 2021, Matt’s lease was up and it was decided that he should move in with Tim at Bittersweet Pl. That is where they began to talk about a life together.
Matt had moved to Chicago in 2019 with his beloved dog Hazel. Tragically, Hazel passed away in August 2019.
When Matt moved in with Tim, it was clear that the couple wanted to adopt another dog together. This was going to be Tim's first dog and Matt's second.
On February 13, 2022, Matt & Tim brought home Cora from PAWS. Matt knew at first sight that she was the dog for them. Shy and shaking at first, she warmed up to her new home at Bittersweet quickly.
Today, Cora is thriving and loves her dads. She likes Tim to chase her around the living room and Matt to give her head rubs.
The couple and their families had planned on going to Disney World in February 2023. Unknown to Matt, Tim was planning to use this time to pop the question.
At dusk and on a ferry on the way to the Magic Kingdom, the whole family started to take pictures together with the castle in the background. Tim asked Matt if they could take a photo just the two of them. Tim got down on one knee and asked to marry Matt. Matt said yes of course and they hugged, kissed and held each other for the rest of the ferry ride.
Tim lived at Bittersweet for about 7 years and Matt lived there for 2 years. It was an amazing starter home for the couple. However, Matt & Tim had their sights set on purchasing a home closer to the Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, and Andersonville neighborhoods.
In August 2023, Matt & Tim made an offer on a Ravenswood condo. The owners accepted their offer and the couple were co-homeowners! Once the offer was accepted, Matt feverishly started to design the new home. The goal - lots of color! For those of you who have seen the place, Im sure you would agree that it is colorful and full of warmth.
In October 2023, Matt & Tim officially moved in to the new home. For Matt's Dad's birthday, the couple took him around the neighborhood and it was discovered that Matt's Paternal Grandmother (Grandma Grace) grew up only 5 minutes away from where they purchased! The new home feels like fate to the couple.
On September 15, 2024, Tim & Matt tied the knot at The Morton Arboretum. This is only the beginning of their journey, but as Tim likes to tell Matt, “I am so happy to be navigating life with you.”
