Matt and Lilly started off as most do, meeting through a shared interest. Lilly had been an established swing dance instructor on the University of Wyoming campus and Matt wanted to become an instructor himself. After trying out for the position, and getting accepted, it meant that Matt and Lilly saw each other on a weekly basis, and a beautiful friendship was quickly discovered.

The more that the two spent time together, whether it was practicing dance moves or hanging out with mutual friends, it became apparent that there was more to these two than just a simple friendship. Matt and Lilly began their partnership on November 15th of 2021.

From there the pair continued to grow, whether on the dance floor, in the kitchen meal prepping, and as life partners. Very soon into this relationship, both people knew it would go the distance.

On May 4th of 2023, the two got engaged, but not in a quiet way. It happened in the middle of a large dance floor surrounded by 200+ people. This dance floor was the space used by the Cowboy Country Swing Club, the same organization that was responsible for Matt and Lilly's independent paths crossing. At the same place they met, in front of so many beloved friends, they declared that they would eventually be husband and wife.
