HIGHLY RECOMMEND walking through the Funk Zone! So many yummy restaurants here and some super cool art galleries and fun small boutiques to shop at!
In the early 1900s, the Funk Zone was the industrial, marine, and manufacturing part of town and had a funky smell due to all the fishermen cleaning their catches (hence the name). Over the past decade, the city has transformed this oceanfront area into a desirable destination for people to enjoy by introducing boutiques, wine tasting rooms, trendy cafes and eateries, art galleries, and craftsmen and artisan shops. They decided to keep the area unique and cater to Santa Barbara’s contemporary side by converting warehouses and buildings decorated with graffiti murals and contemporary art pieces to set the tone for this hopping section of town.
Located right on the Harbor. WE LOVE THIS PLACE! If you want some seriously good Mexican food and a killer marg you should go here! PS- get the Elote appetizer ;) We love FAMILY STYLE so go with a group of friends and share!
Located in the chic and laid-back village of Montecito, Butterfly Beach is a favorite among Santa Barbara locals. The beach’s pristine shoreline is ideal for swimming, surfing and sunbathing, and its unique east-west orientation makes for some truly spectacular sunrises AND sunsets. Spend the better part of your day lounging with a good book, or venture into the ocean and take on the waves in a kayak. Keep your eyes peeled and you might even see a star or two—Montecito is home to several celebs. Whatever activities you include in your day by the sea, Butterfly Beach is the perfect setting.
Butterfly Beach attracts locals, vacationers, relaxing sunbathers, adrenaline-junkie surfers, and everyone in between. Bring a kayak or stand up paddleboard and you’ll be in good company, too. Beachgoers can see the Channel Islands just 20 miles west and have a good chance of spotting dolphins and whales in the distance. Many locals bring their dogs to Butterfly Beach and walk along the water (dogs are permitted on-leash). There are no public facilities at Butterfly Beach, but Coast Village Road is a five-minute walk from the beach and has many food, drink and retail options.
Loquita serves authentic Spanish food including hot and cold tapas, wood-fire grilled seafood and meats, and seasonal paella. The Mediterranean climate and terroir of Santa Barbara County mirror that of Spain, making the translation of locally sourced produce, meats and seafood an ideal match. The wine list is comprised of Spanish wines and exceptional local wines that pair well with the cuisine. Loquita’s cocktail list showcases Spanish vermouths, farmers’ market Sangria, handcrafted cocktails and a rotating selection of Spain’s king of cocktails, the Gin-and-Tonic. Down the hallway is Poquita, a standing-room-only pintxos bar, with displays of Spanish Jamon Serrano, Manchego cheese, Manzanilla olives, tapas and pintxos (small bites). Loquita was awarded as one of USA Today’s 10 Best New Restaurants for 2017 and delivers outstanding food, wine, cocktails, and service with beautiful interiors and an amazing patio making for wonderful dining experience.
Indonesian-California fusion is the mashup you never knew you needed. With a vibrant and spicy menu peppered with ingredients from local farms, you'll be wanting one of everything, and that's okay. Go ahead and do it. This is a great spot for sharing, and after all, can you really be expected to choose between Jidori wings in a tamarind glaze, the crispy duck salad, and seared octopus with leek and chili oil? Shut up and take our money.
This is my favorite little boutique to visit every time we go to SB! They have super cute blankets, apparel, accessories, & home decor.
Matts favorite coffee shop in SB!
