Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Once upon a swipe, in the magical land of Tinder, two souls found each other amid a sea of profile pictures and cheesy pick-up lines. Little did we know that a simple swipe right would lead to the most epic journey of our lives. Our first date was an evening filled with laughter and endless conversation, it felt like we already knew each other. We were so engrossed in each other that we remained in the restaurant long after the last fries had been served, sharing stories, dreams, and our aspirations in life. After that night there was zero doubt that our values were aligned and that we had many common goals for our lives, little did we know where that simple swipe would lead and the happiness it would bring.

Fast forward three months, and it felt like we had invented a new brand of speed-dating: "Shared Closet Living." Our relationship accelerated faster than we both anticipated, and before we knew it, we were sharing a space, while the girls got to enjoy Matt’s cooking, and an alarming collection of mismatched socks. Who knew that cohabitating could turn into a sitcom of sorts? But, as we navigated through the hilarious chaos of life together, we quickly realized that our shared sense of quirky humor was the glue holding our lives together.

A few years later we decided to take the plunge into homeownership. But instead of diving straight into it, we opted for a slightly unconventional route: building our own house on a bare quarter of farmland while bouncing between Air BnB's, house sitting for family members on vacation, and ultimately living in a camper with our four legged companions—three dogs and a cat who thought they were the real stars of the show! Picture this: us, trying to navigate the joys of construction through COVID while simultaneously dodging dog hair and negotiating cat naps. It was an episode of "Extreme Home Makeover" meets "Survivor: RV Edition!" In the end it was all worth it, and we often reminisce about the fun we had during our month long camping trip on a patch of wheat stubble.

Throughout this adventure, Shelby's dad, Trevor, delivered the best piece of wisdom one could ever receive: “If you can build a house together and live in a camper, you’ve found your person.”

So here we are, almost 6 incredible years later, with our hearts a little fuller, our home a little louder, and our love a whole lot deeper. And now, as we prepare for this new chapter of our lives, we can’t help but look back at those crazy times in our little camper filled with laughter, clumsiness, and an entire team of four-legged cheerleaders. With a house now firmly built, yard continuously improving and the work always progressing, and our wonderfully chaotic family, we are beyond excited to say “I do” and continue this wild adventure together. Here’s to love, laughter, and a forever full of furry cuddles! We are beyond excited to celebrate with everyone this summer!
