Matt &amp; Tara met on July 3, 2012 at The Run of the Mill in Saco, Maine. It was instant chemistry, and the rest, as they say, is history!

How We Met

Matt planned a vacation to St. Thomas to celebrate Tara's graduation from The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Little did Tara know, Matt was planning the proposal all along. Matt popped the question at sunrise overlooking St. John on their first morning in paradise, and of course, she said yes! They celebrated with their parents meeting for the first time the following week in Portland, Maine while also celebrating the newly graduated doctor.

Matt &amp; Joe's friendship dates back to their first day at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. They remained close friends not just through college and their time at North Street in Portland, Maine, but even now across the country from Oregon to Washington, D.C.

We are excited to share that we will be traveling to Italy for our honeymoon! Our home base will be in Rome, and we plan to take trips to Venice, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri. We'll be living large at The St. Regis in Rome during our time there, which we are looking forward to! We know many of you have traveled to Italy, so any travel tips, must-dos and must-sees are warmly welcomed!

Take a two-hour day sail or custom charter to enjoy all the beauties that Penobscot Bay has to offer, such as its beautiful rocky shoreline, hidden mansions, small islands, lighthouses, seals, bald eagles, lobster boats, and other magnificent ships. Board the boats in Camden Harbor.

The Camden Hills, rising over Penobscot Bay's northern shore, compete with the peaks of Mount Desert Island for the title of "Finest Coastal Hiking Area in the Northeast." The summit of Mount Battie is the most popular destination in Camden. The steep climb leads in just 0.5 mile to the summit where, from ground level or atop the stone tower, hikers can see boats bobbing in the bay. A map near the tower points out nearby and distant islands, peninsulas, and mountain peaks, making this a terrific first hike, or scenic drive, in the Camden area.

Hike Mount Battie

Between Rockport's busy harbor and the fields of Aldermere Farms sits Vesper Hill Chapel. The outdoor Chapel is non-denominational and, the site used to be home to a hotel called Tamarack Lodge, which burned in 1954. The Chapel was built in 1960 by Helene Bok. Part of the stone foundation from the Tamarack has been incorporated into the gardens. Visitors enjoy a formal garden that features annuals and perennials, herbs, and a variety of trees. A spacious lawn provides great spots for picnicking.

Lincolnville Beach stretches for half a mile just off Route 1 in the coastal village of Lincolnville. You can relax in the sun and swim in the waters of Penobscot Bay while enjoying the view of Islesboro Island just offshore. Inland from the beach, you can see the Camden Hills, which rise to more than 1,000 feet.

Cellardoor features a 200-year-old barn, winery and vineyard. Complimentary tastings are offered at the Farmhouse in Lincolnville and the Villa in Rockport everyday. Guests are welcome to enjoy a selection of 20 plus offerings. Complimentary tours of the winery are also offered starting July 1.

Rockland Breakwater Light was built in 1888 at the end of a half-mile granite breakwater. From a distance, the station looks like a house drifting out to sea, with a small beacon attached. Set on the adjacent oceanfront property is the renowned Samoset Resort and Golf Course. The lighthouse is open for tours on summer weekends.

The Farnsworth Art Museum offers a national recognized collection of works from many of America's greatest artists. With 20,000 square feet of gallery space and over 10,000 works in the collection there is always something new on display at the Farnsworth. The museum has one of the nation's largest collections of works by sculptor Louise Nevelson. Its Wyeth Center features works of Andrew, N.C. and Jamie Wyeth.

Acadia National Park, which comprises more than 35,000 acres of land on Mount Desert Island, Isle au Haut and the Schoodic Penisula, is the only national park in Maine. At Acadia, you can see all of the state's quintessential natural features in one place, including its rocky coastline, mountains, forests, ponds, marshlands and fields. Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National park is the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States.
