Beulah’s Perspective

We met online and I was very impressed at how he asked good questions and really took the time to get to know me. I also liked that he picked fun and adventurous date ideas rather than just dinner or a movie (although we’ve done plenty of that too!). Matt and my first date was on December 3rd 2022. He took me to ramen and a walk through Christmas light show. I was nervous and worried there might be awkward silences so I talked pretty much the entire time, but he lagged at my jokes and didn’t seem to mind when I over shared. That Valentine’s Day he took me to see Midways ice castles. We realized that we shared many passions including the outdoors, friendly-ish competition, ministry, and the Bible. Matt has continued to encourage and support me in my school and career aspirations. On February 24th, 2024 he asked if I wanted to go on a scenic train ride with him. I think trains are super cool so naturally I agreed, but I was a little annoyed that he was insistent that we do it that weekend. It was a beautiful train ride with a view of the reservoir. When he tried to take me to a nice restaurant, but I insisted on tacos. After dinner he took me to a cute old bridge and brought flowers and pictures of all our dates and then he got down on one knee and pulled out his great, great, grandmas ring. I immediately said yes!

Me and Beulah met through Upward which is a Christian dating app. We didn’t stay on the app long before we started texting each other and on December 3rd 2022 we went on our first date. As I drove roughly two hours for the date I was nervous sitting in the Raman restaurant where we planned to meet before going to a Christmas Light show. We had texted a lot back and forth and even met through Zoom once but this was the first time meeting in person. I remember two thoughts I had that night; “This girl is very cute” and “She is incredibly fun and easy to talk to”. She did most of the talking which was great because I liked listening to her and I also remember thinking how funny she was and what a great story teller she was. Quickly we found out how many passions we shared together such as hiking, being outdoors, ministry, theology, watching movies, listening to old country, etc. A few months later I asked her to be my girlfriend and after more than a year of adventures together, on December 24th 2024 I asked Beulah Russell to go on another big adventure with me on a bridge in Midway Utah after a scenic train ride around a lake. She said yes before I could even get the words out and made me the happiest man in the world.
