Matt and Alicia met in the Spring of 2021 while working together at Kansas City Bone & Joint, an orthopedic clinic in Overland Park, Kansas. They quickly became friends as they worked long hours to help the clinic function during the aftermath of Covid. Despite already spending nearly every day together, they found themselves wanting to spend time together outside of work. They discovered shared interests in working out, coffee, sports, cooking, and movies over the next several months.

As time went on, Matt eventually asked Alicia to go on a date which included sushi and walking around the Plaza at Christmas time to see the Plaza lights. After a year and a half of going on dates, spending time with each other's families, friends, and traveling together, Matt decided to ask Alicia to marry him. She said yes and thus began the process of wedding planning and spending the rest of their lives together.
