Telling Our Story...

To tell our story chronologically, we would need to start in 2013 and review how we went from dorm mates, to house mates, to best friends, to a relationship that was initiated on May 15, 2016. We would review how we graduated with each other; how we survived 2 years of cross-country long-distance when Dana was in North Carolina (2017-2019); how we supported each other in school (2019-2022); how we did another 2 years of long-distance as Matt started his career (2022-2024); how we moved to Houston together (2024-2025); and how we moved back to San Diego a year later (2025).

To tell our story from dual perspectives, we would start with the fact that Dana is emotional and Matt is analytical. Matt is the type of person that will calculate the best route forward, follow the steps, and minimize costs while maximizing the benefits. Dana is the type of person who will experiment with every route, throw things on the wall until they stick, and deal with the consequences as they come. Dana thinks "Everything matters!" and Matt thinks "Nothing really matters." Matt can go days (or years) without talking to someone and still consider them close. Dana will call her loved ones as much as she can. Dana can chit-chat for hours and Matt has a two hour timer on chit-chatting tolerance unless it is about golf. Matt is minimalist. Dana is a maximalist. Dana over works. Matt under works. But our differences come together in amazing ways for us. Matt calms Dana down when she is too stressed and Dana stresses Matt out when he is too calm. Dana will encourage Matt to connect to his people, and Matt will encourage Dana to take care of herself more. We combine to form intentional and experimental approaches to life problems, and rely on the other's perspective to continue growing and have fun wherever we are.

To tell our story in snapshots, we would acknowledge that what started as something casual, fun, and without expectations turned into something we couldn’t imagine life without. We are our small moments more than our big ones. We are those evenings where we'd both be on the phone with each other for 5 hours during our long-distance years. We are cooking for each other after hard days. We are learning something new like surfing or jiu jitsu. We are our arguments, our tense moments, and our moments of letting the other down--just as we are our moments of understanding each other, resolving issues, and being better for one another every day. We are certainly those moments in board games where the competition is fierce between us---just as we are those moments where we have each other's back no matter what life has in store. We are our adventures, our time with friends and family, and our future pathways. We are a thousand snapshots and excited to collect millions more.

Welcome Dinner

Please join us for a welcome dinner the evening before the wedding. We’d love to kick off the weekend by gathering with our favorite people to relax, connect, and celebrate together. Time: 6:00pm - 9:30pmLocation: The Cove House in La Jolla

Who is invited to the Welcome Dinner? Everyone! Is there a dress code? Comfy and casual Will food and drinks be provided? Dinner is on us with a full taco bar, salad, chips &amp; salsa, and appetizers. Drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) will be available for purchase.

Ceremony & Reception

The main (and most exciting) events! Please join us as we exchange vows, followed by a joyful evening of food, drinks, and dancing as we celebrate with family and friends. Time: 4:00pm - 10:00pmCeremony Location: Wedding Bowl in La JollaReception Location: Cuvier Club in La Jolla

What date should I RSVP by? Please RSVP by March 15th, 2026. What time does the ceremony start? The ceremony starts at 4:00pm, but we strongly encourage guests to arrive between 3:15pm- 3:45pm to find parking and seating. There are two different locations for the ceremony and reception? Yes, but they are walking distance (i.e., two blocks) away from each other. Our ceremony will be held at the Wedding Bowl near the beach and our reception will be at the Cuvier Club. Where should we park? Our suggestion would be to route to the Cuvier Club (our reception location). There is a lot of public parking on the streets around it. Is there a dress code? We'd love to see our family and friends get dressed up with us! The dress code is semi-formal / cocktail. Note: Our ceremony is on grass, so keep that in mind when choosing shoes! Is the ceremony/reception indoors or outdoors? What happens if it rains? The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and the reception is indoors. If it rains -- all events will be moved indoors. Are kids invited to the ceremony/reception? Yes! Is it an open bar, limited bar, or cash bar? Open bar! What type of food will be served at your wedding? We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a buffet dinner with multiple entree options. There will be nut-free/vegetarian options available. La Jolla on a Friday afternoon will be busy, so expect traffic and difficulty parking. Reference this <a href="https://lajollabythesea.com/visitor-info/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">page</a> to help you out.

Free Parking

Street parking is free but pay attention to signage. After 6 pm, street parking is free. Start with Draper St, but the further south you go, the likelier you are to find spots. Tip: Move your car slightly and check for any marks on your tires to keep the same spot.

San Diego International Airport

The nearest airport is San Diego International Airport (SAN), just 12 miles south of La Jolla (20-25 min drive). We recommend renting a car if you plan to explore other areas of San Diego.

Lodging

We do not have a hotel block. We recommend guests look into the best options for them and their families, but here are a couple suggestions.

La Jolla

Prices range from ~$200 to $300 per night. Mission Valley & Hotel Circle

The Mission Valley area is centrally located at the junction of several major highways, making it a perfect base for exploring all parts of San Diego, including the zoo, downtown, and many beaches. Prices range from ~$70 to $150 per night. Hotel Circle features a diverse selection of lodging to suit any budget, making it a convenient hub for your stay.

Mission Bay

It’s an ideal central base for families and active travelers, located just minutes from SeaWorld, the historic Belmont Park boardwalk, and the sandy beaches of Pacific Beach. Staying here allows you to enjoy a relaxed, "vacation-mode" atmosphere while remaining only a 15-minute drive from both the wedding festivities in La Jolla and the urban energy of Downtown. Prices range from $160 to $290 per night.

Staying local puts you in the heart of The Village, where you’ll be just a short distance from iconic spots like La Jolla Cove and the Children’s Pool. San Diego Zoo & Safari Park

San Diego is famous for its wildlife! If you have a free morning, we highly recommend visiting the world-renowned San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park (closer to downtown) or the Safari Park farther in Escondido (for a true savanna experience). Pro-tip: start early in the morning for more active animals and to avoid the heat.
