This Appalachian love story begins with one Matthew Byrd and his pursuit of a miniature Highland cow at the Athens, Tennessee auctions. Although his search was in vain, he found Dr. JR Harris, an agriculturalist with all the South Georgian charm a man could possess. It was in that moment Matthew’s world paused and his sights were set.

After much courting, their time passed while designing and executing the reconstruction of gardens on Matthew’s family land. They built a strong foundation and decided on each other while dreaming of a future together. They moved onto inherited land to start their own story after differences within Matthew’s family. After months of difficult times, they decided it best to move into the village they had fallen in love with on a trip for JR’s birthday.

Their time in Rugby, Tennessee has been the most influential. It is within these woods they have found their family and friends and gained the strength to overcome any obstacle laid before them.
