In October of 2022, Dani moved to Missouri from Maine after graduating from her Master's program to be closer to her sister and start a new life away from her home state. In November 2022, Dani began working with Matt's Sheriff's Office where they would work together responding to mental health crisis' in the community. Over the next few months of Dani riding along with Matt, their friendship would grow and they quickly became inseparable.

In January of 2023, Matt would ask the Sheriff to be his "wing-man" and help him ask Dani to go out with him. Matt was politely friend-zoned, until Dani realized her feelings were stronger than she would admit. In February of 2023, Dani and Matt would continue to spend time together both at work and outside of work and would begin their love story on February 27, 2023.

Not a day would go by where they wouldn't spend time with one another. In the summer, Matt and Dani would get their first dog, Ellie, a snuggly Golden Retriever, and learn many lessons! Shortly after buying their first home together, Matt and Dani would then welcome their German Shepard, Mikah, to the family as well!

In February of 2024, Matt would propose to Dani while overlooking the Kansas City skyline at the WWI Memorial, where she would eagerly say "Yes!"
