Meow Wolf is an Immersive Art Installation.

Meow Wolf is an arts collective based out of Santa Fe, New Mexico established in 2008. The group is composed of more than 100 artists across several disciplines including: painting, architecture, sculpture, video production, audio engineering, writing and many more.

Through the combined use of these different artists and disciplines the collective creates fully immersive art experiences which aim at narrative storytelling, visual and audio polyphony, live music, performative experiences and interactivity.

Meow Wolf has worked on projects that challenge current concepts of art and arts-based communities. They have completed temporary installation projects in Albuquerque, Chicago, Boulder, New York, San Antonio, Santa Fe and more.

In March of 2016 Meow Wolf opened their first permanent exhibition, The House of Eternal Return, on Rufina Circle in their native Santa Fe, NM

"The House"

The small mountain town of Santa Fe hides a secret straight out of science fiction. An unassuming building in the city's industrial district is a nexus of colorful, chaotic portals that take explorers to worlds they've only seen in their wildest dreams.

Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return is a unique art experience featuring an astonishing new form of non-linear storytelling that unfolds through exploration, discovery and 21st century interactivity.

The House is a 20,000 square foot art exhibit designed by the Meow Wolf collective. There are dozens of rooms, secret passages and interactive light and musical objects with which guests can play for hours or investigate the mystery of the Selig family, who disappeared one night after conducting a forbidden experiment inside their Victorian mansion. Who were the Seligs? Where did they go? and why is their home overrun by figures in white lab coats?

The premise: Something has happened inside a mysterious Victorian house that has dissolved the nature of time and space. Venture through the house of The Selig Family and discover secret passageways into fantastic dimensions!

This maximalist art and storytelling showcase is appropriate and engaging for guests of all ages. Experience what happens when art becomes everything you see, hear and touch. Be careful around the portals, though. They go everywhere…

Musical Highway

Rte 66, Tijeras, NM 87059, USA

On Route 66 between Albuquerque and Tijeras there is a strip of rumble bars which play "America the Beautiful" when you drive over them at the 45 mile per hour speed limit. It was built as part of National Geographic's new show "Crowd Control." The show uses fun experiments to change social behavior. The goal of the rhythmic road, at 364 Highway 66 East near Tijears, is to help drivers stay focused. Nat-Geo's "Crowd Control" series will air a special episode Monday afternoon (December 22) at 4:00 pm. The Singing Road was created using metal plates placed in the pavement. The plates were then covered with asphalt, and then the rumble strips. You must drive the speed limit in order to hear the road "sing"; go to slow or too fast and it won't work.
