Matt and Russ’s story began in 2019 in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan at a lively gay bar called Hardware. On a night filled with music, laughter, and some well-placed courage, Matt spotted Russ across the room and decided to make the first move. But Russ wasn’t going to make it easy—he left Matt trying not once, but a few times to catch his attention. Between Matt’s dancing charm and Russ’s effortless comedy, it didn’t take long for sparks to fly.

Neither of them were ready for the night to end, and by the time it ended, one thing was clear—they had to see each other again. The very next day, they decided to go on their first official date, starting at Dunkin’ Donuts. Matt exposed Russ to his coffee and donut addiction and Russ revealed his real name: Fred (a surprise Matt still isn’t entirely over). The day ended with dinner at an Italian restaurant in Jersey City, officially marking the beginning of the end of Matt’s Sex and the City dream of Manhattan life.

As their connection deepened, Matt discovered that Jersey wasn’t just where Russ lived—it was part of who he was. And while it may have taken some adjusting, Matt quickly fell in love with Russ—and, begrudgingly, with Jersey too. It wasn’t long before Matt packed up his city life to move in with Russ (much to the excitement of Mike and Joe at the time), and they began building a life together.

Shortly after, their family grew by four paws when they welcomed Jayu into their lives. From the moment she arrived, Jayu became the queen of the apartment and light of their lives. Whether it’s long walks, cuddle sessions, or simply being spoiled, Jayu is, without question, their greatest joy (though Russ sometimes jokes that Matt loves her even more than him). Their life together further accelerated when they found their dream home in Jersey City. It needed a ton of work, but Russ, Matt, and Jayu were ready for the task.

Of course, their love story wouldn’t be complete without their friends and family. From travels around the world to hosting nights filled with laughter and great food, Matt and Russ have always prioritized spending time with the people they care about most. They’ve shared unforgettable adventures with loved ones, and those moments are the ones they hold closest to their hearts.

Over the years, they’ve built a life full of love and new experiences. From exploring Italy, Ireland, Thailand, and the ever prestigious Leeds UK #MOT - to spending weekends on their boat down at the Jersey Shore, their journey has been one they’re proud to share with the people they love. They share a passion for trying new foods, playing pickleball, dominating (or at least attempting to) fantasy football leagues, and drinks with friends.

As they prepare to celebrate six incredible years together in June 2025, Matt and Russ can’t help but reflect on all the moments that brought them here. They can’t wait to share their wedding day (or other celebrations for those that can't attend) with all of you—the people who mean the most to them—and begin this next chapter surrounded by love, family, and the promise of many more adventures to come!
