Matt and Katy's first date was in April of 2021, after matching on the dating app Hinge. They both immediately knew their connection was something special. As their first date was coming to a close, Matt suggested going to watch the sunset at Golden Gardens with the bottle of champagne that he had brought in his car with him. To this day: watching the sunset together is one of Matt and Katy's favorite weeknight activities.

Throughout the past two years, Matt and Katy have enjoyed: traveling to new places together, cooking new recipes together, and planning surprise date nights for one another; all while falling more in love each and every day. They also proudly don opposing colors throughout the entirety of college football season, during which there is never a dull moment.

While on vacation in Belize in February of 2023, Matt picked out the perfect sunset bar to bring Katy to on their last night. Much to Katy's surprise, he had brought a ring with him all the way to Belize! He got down on one knee right at sunset. They are truly overjoyed to make their love forever in May of 2024. Matt and Katy cannot wait to celebrate with family and friends in Mukilteo when they officially become the Cresseys!
