The Church service is in Newcastle (St John's COE) and the reception is a 25 minute drive away in Montalto Estate, Ballynahhinch
There is free and overnight parking available in both locations; please where possible collect cars from Montalto no later than 11am the next morning
For those who are travelling from afar or live in the Newcastle area, we will be running a return bus. If you'd like a spot please let us know via your RSVP
For those getting taxi's after Montalto, we recommend you book these in advance for 00:45 (search for Newcastle or Ballynahinch based taxi firms)
For those travelling we recommend staying in Newcastle. Preferably within close proximity to the south end of Newcastle main street right up to the Harbour area. This will leave you within walking distance of both the church and the day 2 location.
There are plenty of options. We recommend looking on airbnb and booking.com.
We recommend flying into Belfast City airport (preference) or Belfast International. Both are about 1 hour from Newcastle.
If travelling in groups then a taxi is your best option.
From Belfast International its c. 1 hour 10 mins to Newcastle, a 4 seater will cost £75 and 6 seater £100
From Belfast City its c. 55 mins to Newcastle, a 4 seater will cost £70 and 6 seater £90
We recommend using Shimna Cabs: 028 437 26030
There are semi-regular buses from both airports into Belfast city centre and then buses every 1hr to Newcastle however it's £15-20 and will take c. 2 hours door to door.
Dublin airport is 1.5 hour away but we would only recommend this if hiring a car as public transport to Newcastle is awkward and taxi's expensive.
If you get stuck please ring us!
There are a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants along Newcastle main street. Some recommendations for those who are staying here:
Breakfast / brunch / coffee: Railway Street (great coffee and brunch) and Nikki's Kitchen (primarily for a greasy fry!)
Relaxed Dinner: Villa Vinci (028 4372 3080) or Toscano (028 4372 6800). Both family style Pizza restaurants with Toscano being a little more "no frills"
More formal Dinner: Brunels (028 4379 8277) or Graphite (028 4379 8075)
Booking is essential for all
Takeaways: Country Fried chicken (order the kebab); probably the best food you'll ever eat
No but drop us a message and we can recommend where to go for a drink (and hopefully join you for one); likely The Harbour Inn or O'Hares depending on your accommodation
Outside of immediate family we ask you leave little ones at home however if calling into the Day 2 then they are more than welcome!
