It was by pure chance that they had met. Both Jess and Matthew were working graveyard shifts – Jess at Prestige Senior Living in Ellensburg; Matthew as a medical delivery driver through Rob’s Speedy Delivery. The two of them only had a day or two that overlapped in their schedules.

Once they did meet, there was an immediate spark that drew the two closer together. At first, it was just because the two were trying to stay awake during their shifts, then common interests in video games, tabletop gaming, and adventure united them.

Quickly, Matthew and Jess became inseparable, coordinating tiring schedules and job changes to find time together. They started to count their time together as of April 1st, 2018.

After two and half years, the pair finally moved in together – naturally making a life together.

The couple never had been perfect, they had their differences in thoughts and philosophy, but they never let that get between them. The two couldn’t see their life without the other.

Time grew on, and come October 19th, 2022 the Matthew had arranged for a family outing to Curfman’s Massive Corn Maze. Matthew knew that Jess had a love for fall and Halloween, so he found this the perfect time to propose.

The moment was a blur – Matthew had picked a spot in front of the Pumpkin “bomb” at the corn maze, posed for a quick “before” photo and told Jess to stay put. Matthew had approached Shea, Matthew’s sister-in-law and Jess’s best friend. Matt obtained a box from her and came back to a confused Jess and proposed. Overjoyed and dumbfounded, she said yes!

The engagement was the first at the Curfman’s Massive Corn Maze and an ideal spot. Jess was absolutely surprised by this as she had firmly believed that Matthew wouldn’t have been able to sneak a proposal past her.

On November 19th, 2022, Jess and Matthew had a small event where they pre-eloped over dinner with parents present. This was to take some pressure off the big day as they planned their vow ceremony to celebrate their union with their family and friends.
