How We Met

November 12, 2016: After deciding to move to Boston from New York City, Matt scheduled a few different apartment viewings from Craigslist on this cold Saturday afternoon. His new job started in a few weeks and he needed to make a decision on a place to live. After a few less than stellar apartments in Beacon Hill and Harvard Square, Matt headed to Cambridge to see an apartment with a beautiful view of the city. The most incredible skyline right from the bedroom window! The only catch was that the two roommates in this apartment were girls.

Matt still thinks it’s funny that college football was playing on TV when he walked in, but we wanted him to feel welcome. As silly as this sounds now. “I’m moving from New York, the Upper East Side,” Matt says. “No way,” I say. Matt has walked around the apartment and now we were in the awkward moment of small talk before he left to see the next apartment. “I used to live there too. On 81st and York.” “I was on 85th and York,” Matt says. In my mind I wonder if we ever crossed paths. We had lived in the same neighborhood at the same time. A few more minutes of quiet conversation pass before Matt heads out. He cancelled the next two apartments (he tells me now) and knew that one with the two girls was the one. And that was how we became random Craigslist roommates. We had no idea how much this decision would change both of our lives! December 2, 2016: Matt moved into our apartment on a Friday afternoon. I got home from work and tried to stay out of the way as he and his parents unpacked; our other roommate was out of town that weekend. When Matt got home from dinner, he went into his room to read, leaving the door open. He tells me now he didn’t really know what to do with himself then. A new place, new people. It was my favorite time of year: Christmas movies were on every night. I walked down the hall. “Do you want to watch the Polar Express?” It had just started on Freeform and I was heading to the living room to watch. “Sure,” Matt said and put his book down. We sat together and watched the movie that night, laughing and talking the entire time. We quickly realized we both loved books and swapped recommendations endlessly. I knew that we would definitely be friends. It was like our souls found comfort in each other. February 15, 2017: Our first "official" date. We went to Grotto in Beacon Hill. We did the prix fixe menu and treated ourselves to three courses and the most delicious wine. We go back to Grotto once a year - on February 15 (if we are able) to celebrate this memory. February 25, 2017: we “officially” begin dating. Matt and I like to visit new places around this time every year as our anniversary trip, celebrating this special day in our lives. We are so excited to have another - June 26 - to celebrate forever. P.S. Matt moved to a different apartment soon after this, and the rest is history.

Our anniversary trip 2018: Burlington, Vermont. We took a cooking class at our hotel and vowed we would definitely return to Burlington. We haven't yet, but we will!

Our anniversary trip 2019: Kennebunkport, Maine. My family is from Kennebunkport, but this was the first time Matt visited. It was the most magical winter weekend. Highlights were the lobster trio at Alisson's and cocktails at the Boathouse.

We didn't make our anniversary trip in 2020, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all - bigger and better - in 2021!

Kennebunkport is a tourist destination, so we encourage guests to book your accommodations as early as possible.

Important Information

Parking is available for all guests at our venue, the Breakwater Inn. However, parking at our ceremony location is limited, so we encourage guests to park at the Breakwater and take our shuttles over to the church. We will be providing shuttle service at the Hampton Inn in Kennebunk as well as the Breakwater. We have also included hotel options that are close by to the Breakwater, allowing you to still take advantage of our shuttle service (to/from the Church for our ceremony). Details are listed below. If you prefer to stay at an Airbnb, other vacation rental, or another hotel or inn nearby, we cannot guarantee parking or on-demand car services like Lyft or Uber at our locations. We encourage you to look for something within walking distance and/or organize taxi transportation ahead of time if you go this route.

Shuttle service for the day's festivities will be provided from both the Breakwater Inn and the Hampton Inn.A complete schedule of shuttle times will be available to you prior to our wedding day.Sit back, relax, and enjoy our day with us!

Accommodations

Our room block here is now full, but the hotel still has rooms available during our dates. We encourage you to still stay at this hotel if interested in order to take advantage of our shuttles. Please call and book directly. Quick note on timing: check-in time is 3pm, our shuttle will arrive here at 3:15pm, and the wedding begins at 4pm. If this timing is tight for you, we encourage you to stay on Friday night as well so you are not rushed.

The Hampton Inn Kennebunk

Just across the street from our venue, Mabel's House is a boutique inn that has great rates. We checked (at time of writing this) and it still has a few rooms available, so we encourage you to book here and take advantage of Ocean Avenue.

Across the street at just a two minute walk from our venue, the Colony is a beautiful and historic Kennebunkport hotel. Enjoy direct ocean and beach access - and it's pet friendly for any furry friends!Like the Nonantum, guests staying at the Colony can easily take advantage of our shuttle service to and from the Church right at the Breakwater.We do not have a room block here and recommend booking as early as possible if you are interested.

<a href="http://www.alissons.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Alisson's </a>- the best lobster roll we've ever had! Get the petite lobster roll trio and the lobster bisque poutine. <a href="https://www.oldvineswinebar.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Old Vines Wine Bar</a> - ambiance and shareable plates! The lobster roll is good here too, and the french fries are incredible. They also have a great selection of wine, of course. <a href="https://boathouseme.com/kennebunkport-maine-restaurants/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Boathouse </a>- we highly recommend getting cocktails on the deck. It is the most spectacular view of the river! <a href="https://www.pier77restaurant.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Pier 77</a> - a quaint coastal restaurant - picturesque Maine if that's what you're looking for! <a href="https://www.villagetavernwestk.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Village Tavern</a> - a little more inland within Kennebunk itself, but the food blew us away. We LOVED it. We recommend the lobster risotto (and everything on their menu honestly). <a href="https://federaljacks.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Federal Jack's </a>- Beers and pub food! Kennebunkport's best "night out."

Activities 

<a href="https://schoonereleanor.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sailing</a> - Experience Kennebunkport from the water! We love sailing trips, and this one is excellent. Dock Square - Make sure to spend some time walking around Dock Square. There's beautiful views and fun beach town shopping. Walker's Point - Take a stroll down Ocean Avenue and see if you can spot the secret service. Beach day - There are a few <a href="https://www.kennebunkport.org/beaches.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">beaches</a> open to the public in Kennebunkport. Some options are Kennebunk Beach, Goose Rocks Beach, and Colony Beach. <a href="https://batsonriver.com/batson-river-tasting-room/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Batson River Brewing &amp; Distillery</a> - Treat yourself to a whiskey tasting or a beer flight.

Make a vacation out of it - more of Maine

Portland, Maine: Take a trip 35 minutes north to stop in Portland, which is Maine's largest city. Be sure to visit the Old Port's many bars, restaurants, and shops.Portland has been called the "Brewery Capital of the World" - we aren't sure if that's true, but brewery hopping certainly is fun. Some of our favorites are Allagash, Bissell Brothers, and Rising Tide. Bar Harbor, Maine - Venture a little further to Bar Harbor and visit Acadia National Park. Tip: wake up early to see the sunrise - Acadia is the easternmost point in the United States. You'll be the first in the whole country to welcome daylight. Sebago Lake, Maine - Spend some time in the Lakes Region and enjoy a quintessential Maine summer day upta camp. Sebago is the largest lake in Maine - and filled with plenty of fun. Portland Head Light - visit the most photographed lighthouse in Maine at Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. If the <a href="https://www.biteintomaine.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bite Into Maine</a> food truck is there, treat yourself to a lobster roll. We also recommend stopping nearby at the <a href="https://lobstershacktwolights.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Lobster Shack Two Lights</a> for some seafood next to the rocky coast.

The Church on the Cape is requiring guests to wear masks while inside the church. The Breakwater Inn is requiring guests to wear masks while inside the Inn. Please keep in mind that our cocktail hour and reception will both be outside on the lawn, where masks are not required. However, if you do go inside, please wear a mask. We will also be providing disposable masks onsite at both the church and our reception in case you forget. Thank you for your cooperation!
