Matt and I met through mutual friends. Our first date was going to Chipotle. I couldn't finish my quesadilla, so I wrapped it in napkins and shoved it in my coat pocket. Not sure why he continued to talk to me after that date.
We hung out a few times after that. He showed me his room and my eyes immediately went to the large sock pile that was tucked away in the corner of his room. It was a giant eye sore that continued to cause me pain. I eventually caved. I folded and put those socks away. Shouldn’t have done that. You can guess who folds and puts away his socks now.
We started dating and shortly found out that we both are weird and awkward people. But our weirdness we fit really well together.
Fast forward 2 years. We went on a little hike at Chimney Bluffs State Park in New York. We stopped at the beach for a quick rest. I had looked down and found a little bottle with a message inside. I was excited to read someone's mysterious note. However, when I opened the note from the bottle, it just had the words "Will you marry me?". When I looked up, Matt was on his knee, holding a ring. I could not form words, but eventually I was able to say "yes!"
We both love traveling the world. Shortly after the engagement in 2022 we visited Banff National Park in Canada. We hiked some amazing mountains and had real poutine. We visited Paris France the following January where we tried escargot (it was life changing). Recently, we went to Munich Germany for Oktoberfest. We wore our lederhosen and dirndl while we drank liters of beer.
After graduating from RIT, we moved to Columbus Georgia with our fur babies Luna and Moose. I got a job at Pratt and Whitney as a Product Manufacturing Engineer and Matt started his career in the Army as an Armor Officer. In May 2024 we moved to Colorado Springs Colorado. We are looking forward to our future adventures!
