Matt & Ellie

The story of Matt and Ellie began eight years ago on the outskirts of Boston. Their paths crossed while Matt was navigating the labs at MIT and Ellie was finishing her studies at Wellesley. What started as a close friendship quickly grew into a permanent partnership, and the two have been nearly inseparable ever since. When Ellie graduated a year ahead of Matt to pursue her PhD in Clinical Psychology, her journey took her across the country to Palo Alto. Distance, however, was only a temporary chapter. After Matt completed his degree in engineering, he followed her West. Today, Matt and Ellie have traded the brisk New England winters for the redwoods and surf of Santa Cruz. They have built a home together that is as lively as it is full, shared with their devoted dog, Smokey, and a trio of beloved cats: Koshka, Kenny, and Julian. Eight years after that first meeting in Massachusetts, they are thrilled to finally trade the titles of "college sweethearts" for husband and wife.

Nathaniel and Matt go all the way back to our college days, where we started out as roommates and quickly became life-long friends. They spent years navigating the ups and downs of campus life together, from the chaos of shared living spaces to the long hours of undergrad. While their paths eventually diverged geographically, leading him to earn his medical degree last year, he has remained a constant presence and a trusted confidant through every major chapter since. Matt is honored to have him trade the white coat for a tux to stand by his side.

Anna and Ellie’s friendship had a bit of a cinematic start—they met during their first week of college and were initially competing for the attention of a mutual friend. It didn’t take long, however, for them to realize they were much better suited as one of each other’s best friends. Since that realization, they’ve been a duo that’s hard to beat. From their early days at Wellesley to boarding international flights and exploring the world together, Anna has been Ellie’s travel partner and confidante for nearly a decade. Ellie is thrilled to have her standing right where she belongs on the big day.

As Matt’s younger brother, Michael has been a teammate from the very beginning. While they grew up side-by-side, they bonded over a shared love for cars and mechanics while working in their father’s machine shop. Even though Matt eventually left for college, the collaboration never stopped; the two are still bouncing ideas off one another for their various projects. It is a milestone year for Michael, who will be celebrating his own wedding a few months before Matt’s, and Matt is honored to have his brother trade the gears and grease for a tuxedo to stand with him today.

Wedding Party

The groom and groomsmen will be in tuxedos, and we invite our guests to join in the formal spirit. While tuxedos are welcome, they are certainly not required—a dark suit or a polished sports coat and tie are perfectly appropriate. For women, floor-length or formal cocktail dresses are suggested.
