Born on opposite sides of the country, Matthew and Natalie’s love story is truly one of a kind.
Roughly, 2,200 miles separated these 2 for most of their young lives. Matthew was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia., while Natalie grew up in Redondo Beach, California. Years before they would officially meet, Natalie and Matthew briefly shook hands at a nightclub in Las Vegas.
In 2013, Matthew was with a group of friends from Wyoming celebrating a bachelor party in Vegas. At the same time, Natalie was with a group of her friends also in Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to them at the time, one of the guys from Matthew’s Wyoming group went to college and was an athlete with Natalie at California Lutheran University. On the other hand, two of the people from Natalie’s friend group during that trip, had been athletes and friends with Matthew at The George Washington University. The two groups shook hands that night and exchanged conversations. However, no one realized Matthew and Natalie would cross paths again years later.
In early 2020, Matthew moved to Houston, TX as a news reporter at the local FOX TV station. The same friend he was on the Vegas bachelor party trip with in 2013, was also a news reporter in Houston. The two grabbed drinks one night, and the friend posted a picture of Matthew on Instagram welcoming him to the new city.
Natalie was then living in Austin, Texas, drinking some Two Buck Chuck when she saw her college friend’s Instagram post welcoming Matthew to Houston. Curious and intrigued, she did some creeping and clicking on Matthew’s Instagram profile. Maybe it was the wine, but she believed Matthew was attractive and sent him a direct message. It worked!
Matthew and Natalie met officially at a Houston brewery. While discussing how they met on Instagram, they eventually figured out that they had even more mutual friends and had actually crossed paths about 7 years earlier in Las Vegas.
After several months of going on runs together, late night phone calls, and margarita date nights at Velvet Taco, the two made it official and started dating in the fall of 2020.
Finally, on May 21, 2022 Matthew put on “ring on it”. While Natalie thought she was on a girl’s trip to celebrate her 30th birthday in Palm Springs, CA, Matthew had other plans. With the help of friends and family, Matthew surprised Natalie with a memorable engagement and celebration.
Natalie and Matthew are excited to tie the knot in Palm Springs on September 30, 2023. They look forward to celebrating with their closest friends and families in one of their favorite locations! #MatalieEverAfter
