Our Wedding

If you were to ask Matt how we met, you'd probably get a straight-to-the-point, concise, "We met online."	However, if you were to ask me (Brooke) how we met, you'd DEFINITELY get a 15-point sermon with a prologue and epilogue, 10 roundabouts, and maybe a little too much dramatic flare.	But I'll try to keep it short.	Ish.	When I was 13, I attended IHC in Dayton, OH with my family. One day, I happened to see a college student (Matt) walking past me at the convention center, and I fell in love. On the way back to our motel later that evening, I was telling my family all about this cute guy I saw. When I described what he looked like, my mother said, "That's interesting. My college roommate has a son who looks like that."	She got on Facebook to find a picture of him, and sure enough, that was him. I now had a name to go with the face. So for the next 5 years, I crushed on this Matt Smith guy. Most girls my age had celebrity crushes, but I had Matt Smith. He became a sort of legend in my family. My mom would say things like, "Oh, I wish it could work out somehow," and if I ever commented that I saw a cute guy, my sister would say something like, "On a scale of 1 to Matt Smith, how cute was he?" Because everyone knew Matt was my 10/10. 	Fast forward several years. I was 17 when I got my Facebook, and since we shared a lot of mutual friends through family connections and the Holiness movement, Matt and I became friends on Facebook. Every once in awhile, I would comment on one of his stories and he'd reply with one or two words. I kind of gave up hope and as I grew up, I viewed it more as a humorous crush because I had liked him for so long.	And then somehow...SOMEHOW...we became friends on Snapchat. I believe I found him and added him on one of my rare too-brave-to-think-of-the-consequences moments. I was at the local county fair with a couple college friends and my younger brother when I got a message on Snapchat.	From Matt.	I was in line for the Ferris Wheel, so I didn't get the chance to jump through any roofs, but my heart did. 	"What's up?" he messaged.	And that's all it took. 	We met in person for the first time at my sister's wedding (basically, my sister knew I was talking to him and said, "Invite him to my wedding!" and the poor guy had to meet me for the first time in front of all my brothers, brother-in-laws, and curious family). A month later, we began officially dating, and now here we are.	So yeah. "We met online," doesn't suffice.	And now, I get to marry my childhood crush&lt;3

-There is no required dress code for our wedding, but if you would like to coordinate your outfit to the theme (or maybe you're just curious!) our colors are navy blue, burgundy, and champagne.

-Due to planning, we have reserved seats only for those listed on the invite, unless otherwise stated. Please be mindful of this when RSVPing, thank you!

-Please note: due to the maximum occupancy number for the venue, the reception after the ceremony has been made private.  We ask that only those who receive the additional reception invite attend. We hope to see you at our wedding! 

-Due to the distinct call we have felt from God to serve in Africa in 2026, we do not need any household appliances or practical items as we embark on our new life together (although a few things have been added to our registry page for those of you who like getting physical gifts☺️). We have what we need for our first chapter in the States. If you wish to give a gift, the preferred method would be in the form of cash. Either way, we are not looking for presents; we're looking for your presENCE at our wedding!
