Ariana & Matt met on the first day of orientation at Cornell and went on their first date shortly thereafter. On their first date, Matt watched the World Series over Ariana's shoulder, and Ariana pretended to know about baseball. Ariana & Matt dated casually throughout college, but didn't know what the future would hold for them after graduation.

When the time came, Ariana went off to graduate school in Rhode Island, and Matt moved to New York City for law school. Ariana's job brought her to NYC in January, 2020, where the pair reconnected and began dating again. In 2021, Matt & Ariana moved in together in Queens while Matt was finishing his law degree, and in 2023 Matt proposed in Central Park where they walk their dogs Bella & Rosie on weekend mornings. Shortly thereafter, the pair moved to Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn, where they have more space for their pups.
