Mattie was born and raised on the West side of Indianapolis and grew up attending the Bible Church of Brownsburg (BCB). She studied nursing at IUPUI and was between her junior and senior year when Ethan first visited BCB in early July, 2022. He had just graduated from Cedarville University in May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and taken a manufacturing job in Brownsburg. Mattie introduced herself after church, and invited Ethan to join the young adults group that was just being formed. Neither particularly had an eye for the other until two years later, but Ethan joined BCB and both were active members in the church and leaders in the young adults ministry.

Fast forward two years, and we knew each other as friends, and considered each other a mature and godly young man and woman, respectively. In the Lord's timing, our first date was in August of 2024, as we began to take interest and sought to get to know each other better. Over time, our love blossomed! We are so, so thankful for the way the Lord has guided us and used us to encourage each other and conform us closer to the image of Christ. We got engaged at the end of January (outside, in the cold!) at the same park where we will now be having our reception! We are so excited to marry and look forward to serving our Lord together for the rest of our lives!
