Our story isnt your typical fairy tale. In fact, its more like a series of fortunate events and a touch of good luck that brought us together.

Growing up in a decently small area, we were aware of each others existence, connected through the grapevine of mutual friends and acquaintances. We first officially acknowledged each other in the Fall of 2019, where we went on our first date to Taco Bell. While we sat in the back of the mostly empty restaurant, time slipped away unnoticed. Three hours had passed in the blink of an eye. We did not have an instant connection, but whether it was the conversation or the food... something held us captive in that moment.

That was the last time we saw each other again until May of 2022. College life had pulled us in opposite directions, and we lived our lives separately, almost no communication for several years.

But life has a funny way of circling back. As fate would have it, we both found ourselves living back in our hometowns. It wasnt some grand plan; it was just the way life unfolded.

It wasnt until our paths crossed by sheer chance that things took an interesting turn. Our lifestyles, choices, and a bit of coincidence conspired to bring us together again. And, well, we did not let the newly lit flame go out this time.

No magic spells or fairy godmothers here—just two people realizing they enjoyed each others company. Our connection wasnt instantaneous fireworks; it was more like a slow burn that grew into something significant.

So, here we are, sharing our unconventional how we met story. Its not a fairy tale, but its ours. A tale of happenstance, shared laughter, and the realization that sometimes, the best things come when you least expect them and need them to.

We got engaged on September 16th, 2023 on our recently purchased land, where we are building our first home together. Tanner had just broken ground a few days before to begin construction, surprising Matty with this as well.
