Maura and Brad met the old fashioned way...on a dating app in July 2021. Maura went to college at the University of Georgia and then attended Valdosta State University for her nursing degree. After college, she decided to stay in Georgia to work at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Brad joined the Caterpillar engineering rotational program right out of college, first sending him to North Carolina and then to Atlanta in July 2021. Maura's fun fact on her profile was that she knows the entire Danny Phantom theme song (which is still true). Brad saw a great opportunity to start a conversation and asked Maura if that was her favorite early 2000's Nick show. It was not. After some conversation, Maura thought they should meet in person. She suggested several Atlanta spots that were unfortunately closed because she did not think to check the hours, so it was up to Brad to pick the spot, and he chose New Realm Brewing Company. While the first date didn't go as planned (you can ask for the story - it's 50/50 on whose fault it was), their second date was at a bowling alley where they bowled and played darts. Maura beat Brad at both. By the end of the second date, the two were inseparable. From hiking in northern Georgia to putt putt, Maura and Brad loved being around each other. Maura even bought a last minute ticket to go see Brad in San Diego during his business trip, and they went on the first of many difficult hikes that Brad said was going to be a walk in the woods. After spending increasingly more time together, the two decided to move in with one another in January 2022. The two like to claim it was for purely financial reasons, but really it was because they were already inseparable. Brad, who claims he used to hate cats, was even okay with Maura bringing her cat, Nimbus, and now the two are best buds. When time came to move again for Brad's job, Maura knew (way more quickly than she expected) that she wanted to go with him. The two then moved to everyone's favorite city: Little Rock, Arkansas! They spent a year here doing quite literally everything that city had to offer...twice. While it wasn't their dream location, it brought them closer and strengthened their relationship even more. As their year in Arkansas came to an end, they found out they would be moving to San Diego, California, and they were so excited! Prior to leaving for the west coast, the two decided to pay a visit to Atlanta to see friends and family. Maura made Brad swear he wouldn't propose in Arkansas, so Brad saw this as the perfect opportunity to pop the question. Brad enlisted the help of Maura's siblings and closest friends and set out to create the sweetest and cheesiest proposal he could think of: at the bowling alley where they had their second date. On the drive out to a mysterious dinner rendezvous with their friends, the two passed by the bowling alley, seemingly by accident. Hopping out to take a nostalgic peek inside, Brad got down on one knee while her friends and family watched from the bushes. Maura knows it was a beautiful speech, but she was so excited that she only heard parts of it and took a second to say yes between happy tears. Just a few short months later, the two found themselves road tripping out to San Diego, where they currently live and can't wait to show off to friends and family at their wedding!
