Our story. The story is there really isn’t a story. Love laid dormant. But like an ember that escapes a smoldering fire, that ember ignited a fire between us.

It’s interesting, though, that it never felt that way when we saw each other. We would pass each other’s paths without ever asking for a single direction, so to speak. To her I was “just Mauro” or “oh that’s Jackie’s husband’s friend. Cody’s friend”. And she was “just Janelle”. Which, when we look back on that makes us pretty sad.

Fast forward to a point in time. A season of love. To where that one ember landed. Finally, something. A force that caused us to gravitate towards each other.

Finally, of all the different paths taken, different directions followed, we finally met. And it was as if we had already met before. It was a natural, organic feeling. Should we have been a bit more nervous? We don’t know. But what we were sure of was one thing: real love. We had found love in each other. We were each other’s person all along and it only took 6 years to find that out!

We remind ourselves of that. That it was all in good timing. Things would have gone very differently 6 years ago. As they say: timing is everything.

So maybe that’s our story. That our story is writing itself. There are so many stories of couples that have known each other forever, and how it was love at first sight, and so on.

But we think that’s what makes our story different. Is when we finally met at the crossroads. When that ember finally landed from being carried for so long in the wind at our feet, we knew we wanted to be with each other for eternity.
