We will be traveling to Marquette again soon, and will be updating this section of our website with a travel list of all of the places, restaurants, rest areas, and lookout spots we love to enjoy along the way on our roadtrips up to Marquette. We hope that it will be a good starting spot for those traveling up for their first time, and also share some new ideas with those who’ve made the drive before. If you’re looking for ideas to add to your roadtrip coming up in October, be sure to check back here later on :)
Clyde's Drive-In: 178 US-2, St. Ignace, MI 49781
Stopping at Clyde's is a must-do every time we cross the bridge, and hope you'll try it on your trip! This is a vintage drive-in burger stop. We recommend the Bison burger or Big 'C' and a chocolate milkshake for the drive. Clyde's is cash only, although there is an ATM inside if you need it.
Huron Mountain Bakery: 1301 S. Front St., Marquette, MI 49855
This is our go-to bakery for yummy donuts, breads, treats, and fresh sandwiches. Our favorite sandwiches are "The Locks" and "The Huron".
Third St. Bagel: 429 N. 3rd St., Marquette, MI 49855
We love stopping by Third St. Bagel for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Ken's favorite is the "Village Veg" with a Jalapeño bagel and bacon added. Max's favorite is the "The Lox" with a salt bagel.
Velodrome Coffee: 1125 N. 3rd. St. Marquette, MI 49855
We make it a point to squeeze Velodrome in as much as we can every time we come up to Marquette. Max's current favorite is the "Autumn Spice" latte. Ken's favorite is "The Lumberjack" latte. You can't go wrong with anything here, and if you have the appetite, you should try a waffle here also!
The Vierling: 119 S. Front St. Marquette, MI 49855
If you are wanting a true, U.P. dinner, you should stop by The Vierling. They often have a wait around dinner time, so plan on that, or try calling ahead to see if they can set up a reservation for you. They have the yummiest, local, whitefish to offer. We love to get the Whitefish Dip appetizer, Cajun Grilled Whitefish dinner for Max, and the Piccata Whitefish dinner for Ken.
Donckers: 137 W. Washington St., Marquette, MI 49855
This is a perfect spot to stop by for breakfast and lunch in downtown Marquette. Dockers has an old-fashioned candy counter on the main floor, and then two floors of dining above. We love all of their fresh soups and sandwiches.
VanLandschoot Fish and Chips Food Truck: 559 Lake Shore Blvd., Marquette, MI 49855
If you're looking for a quick stop for some fresh and locally caught fish, this is your spot. We love to take their fried Whitefish basket to the local beaches for lunch.
Smelted Pizza x Matt's on Presque: 1635 Presque Isle Ave., Marquette, MI 49855
Another delicious lunch/dinner spot specializing in wood-fired speciality pizzas. They also have yummy sandwiches. We love the Goat Yoga Pizza!
Yoop Coop: 510 W. Washington, St., Marquette, MI 49855
This is the spot for fresh, hand battered, fried and grilled chicken. They have a ton of great sauces that are fun to try out also.
