We met at Rock Canyon High School track practice (though, we each knew of each other before that). Clara was thoroughly obsessed with Max - the handsome, cool, upper classman - so she couldn’t believe when he came up to her at track practice to say “you have beautiful eyes” (cue misty eyes).

The crushes continued through Max’s high school graduation in 2013, where 6 years of long distance started. We spent every day of the summers together and saw each other about once a month during the school year. We had the most fun weekends attending date parties and getting to know each other’s college friends.

Long distance ended in 2019, when Clara graduated from Mizzou and moved back home. We started our professional careers, moved in to our apartment and Clara convinced Max to get a puppy (Fran!).

We went on a trip to Tulum, Mexico for what Clara thought was an end-of-busy-season trip, but Max knew was the proposal trip! An hour into being at the resort, we hit the swim-up bar and headed to the beach where Max popped the question!
