Maya and Richard were introduced by a mutual (and still very close!) friend in 2015 in Fort Collins while both attending college at Colorado State University. The two quickly became friends and enjoyed spending time exploring Fort Collins, eating Maya's stuffed peppers, and Richard watching Maya do homework.

The two parted ways in 2016 when Richard graduated and moved to Los Angeles, California to start his career while Maya stayed in Fort Collins for her last year of school.

Fate had its way, and the two would reconnect a year later when Maya got her first job and moved to Orange County, California in 2017.

After some time, the two finally began dating in 2019. At this time, with Richard in LA and Maya in OC, the two lived about 1.5 hours apart and would make the trek (mostly Richard) through the California traffic to see each other every weekend.

Richard and Maya's relationship blossomed as they endured the trials of COVID together through 2020, and finally decided to move back home to Colorado in 2021 to be closer to both families.

Fast forward to 2023, Richard proposes to Maya! The rest will be history ;)
