Our Wedding

It was a Friday morning on the University of Kentucky's campus, and Maya had just added a Psychology minor to her undergraduate plan. She was in her first psychology class, sophomore year: Psych 215, Experimental Psychology. "Are you in Psych 215 too?" Maya said as she took a selfie in front of a classroom (Funkhouser, Room 306A) right next to Jackson who was doing the same. "Yeah, nice to meet you. What is your name?" Jackson responded. They were taking selfies in front of a specific classroom as an introductory assignment for the class. It was January 13, 2023, at 10:51am when the following selfies were taken:

Little did Jackson know, Maya already had eyes on him, and this was not the first time she was noticing him. Jackson + Maya spent the next few months getting to know each other during walks to and from class each week. The butterflies were there (and still are!), but Jackson finally asked Maya on a dinner date on March 10, 2023: the Friday before spring break. They went to Goodfella's Pizzeria followed by Graeter's Ice Cream. The date went so great, that they met at Old School for coffee the following morning before leaving town for break. Fast forward about one month, Maya invited Jackson to her sorority's formal. These were Jackson + Maya's first photos together-- as the night went on, they clearly got more comfortable with each other and let the nerves wear off.

Jackson + Maya spent the next few months falling madly in love with each other. They enjoyed getting to know each other's families over holidays and friends throughout the weeks. They quickly realized that they didn't ever want their love for each other to end. From impromptu date nights to spending hours studying biochemistry, Jackson and Maya couldn't get enough of each other. The past few years have been full of birthday celebrations, coffee dates, days on the lake, sports games, concerts, travels, hikes, studying, and hand-holding. Jackson and Maya have been alongside each other during the highs and lows of admissions into medical and dental school. They are each other's constant.

Jackson and Maya have built their relationship on trust, honesty, love, and joy, and have found the kind of comfort in each other that only comes when you've found your person. On October 4, 2025, Jackson asked Maya to be his person forever and marry him!

If you're planning on flying into town, here are three great airport options:

1. Your closest option is the Blue Grass Airport (LEX), right here in Lexington. LEX is about a 15 minute drive to downtown Lexington. 2. Cincinatti/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from downtown Lexington. I-75 S will take you the whole way! 3. Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from downtown Lexington. I-64 E will take you the whole way!

Lexington Specials:

Horse farm tours give guests a behind-the-scenes look at Kentucky’s legendary thoroughbred farms. Visitors can see horses up close, learn about breeding and training, and explore the beautiful rolling countryside that makes Lexington world-famous for horse culture. We definitely recommend tickets in advance. Some of our favorites are Claiborne Farm, and Darby Dan Farm.

Horse Farm Tours

The annual Lavender Festival is happening over our wedding weekend! From June 26-28, you can handpick lavender, enjoy vendors, and more. Be sure to buy tickets!

The Kentucky Castle

The Distillery District is a vibrant area of Lexington filled with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and local boutiques.

OUTSIDE:

A beautiful working horse farm and museum dedicated to celebrating Kentucky’s horse heritage. Guests can explore barns, watch live horse demonstrations, visit the International Museum of the Horse, and enjoy scenic walking paths. If you plan on visiting, we recommend looking into tickets in advance.

Unfortunately, racing season months are April and October. However, it is still worthwhile to visit Keeneland walk the historic racetrack grounds, explore the gardens, watch morning workouts if horses are training, and visit the Keeneland Shop! It is free to roam around!

If you're wanting more activity, Raven Run is a beautiful nature preserve with easy-to-moderate hiking trails, wooded paths, and scenic overlooks of the Kentucky River.

If you're planning on spending an extra day or two in the area, Mammoth Cave National Park is about 2 hours west of Lexington!

The Arboretum is a serene, free botanical garden and walking park with landscaped gardens, wide paths, and seasonal blooms. It has a 2-mile loop, ideal for a relaxing morning stroll, families with kids, or anyone who enjoys a calm outdoor space close to town.

DISTILLERIES:

One of the most scenic and iconic bourbon experiences in Kentucky. Guests can tour historic limestone buildings, learn about the bourbon-making process, and enjoy tastings. We would recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

Woodford Reserve Distillery

One of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the nation. Tours are rich in history, completely free, and include a tasting of some of their most beloved bourbons. We recommend making reservations in advance!

Buffalo Trace Distillery

Known for its stunning castle-like architecture, lush gardens, and craft cocktails. The grounds are beautiful for wandering, and the distillery offers a modern take on Kentucky bourbon history. We recommend booking tickets in advance.

Shopping:

A trendy indoor market with local shops, food stalls, coffee, and pop-up vendors. The building was once Southeastern Greyhound Line's headquarters.

An upscale outdoor shopping and dining district with boutiques, national brands, and great restaurants.

COFFEE + CHILL:

A cozy, laid-back spot with great lattes and pastries. Perfect for a quiet morning or a mid-day break!

Old School Coffee

Coffee Times is a longtime local favorite with a warm, eclectic vibe, an in-house roastery, and lots of unique drinks. There is a small store inside as well. They sell their tea and coffee by the pound as well!

Modern, upscale American restaurant with a cozy and stylish atmosphere. If you plan on dining here, we definitely recommend making a reservation!

Carson's Food & Drink - On Main

Casual, fun spot for delicious New York–style pizza and Italian favorites. The restaurant is located in the Distillery District-- a very unique and fun place to check out! Perfect for a relaxed meal. This is where we had our first date!

Goodfellas Pizzeria - Distillery

One of our favorites. Fresh, innovative sushi and a lively atmosphere. Classic and creative rolls, small plates, and sake.
