God has made everything beautiful for its own time. We're another example that God's timing is always perfect. We both had plans to fly out of town on this same December weekend, but things changed for both of us. We both were invited to a graduation party for a mutual friend who had received her master's degree from Texas Tech. After catching each other's eye we both were interested, but very hesitant. After some encouragement from friends we started talking and made sure to exchange phone numbers before leaving. A text was sent before we even made it home that same night to start getting to know each other.

While getting to know each other, we were very intentional on discussing our core values that meant a lot to us. We both were so eager to spend time together, Gevon set up our first date at The Rouxpour. Our conversation was so easy, fun, compassionate, and comfortable. We stayed at The Rouxpour for hours just enjoying each other's company, we did the same for the next three dates. We wanted to make sure all the special people in our lives got me to meet each of us so we spent 2023 traveling all over to make sure it happened.

I knew I was going to marry Maya last summer after we attended a wedding in New York. We stayed in an Airbnb with absolutely no entertainment whatsoever, barely any service. It was just the two of us and this creepy home I booked (LOL). That trip is still one of our favorites because it shows even without all the electronics, our quality time spent together meant more than anything else. I started telling friends not long after that I was ready to buy and stash a ring away for her to propose in early 2024. Thanks to our families, the moment came full circle after getting engaged at The Rouxpour where it all started and celebrating with our family and friends who we know will pour into our marriage forever.
