The universe has a funny way of telling you "This is absolutely the person you must marry".
We met in college, after a near lifetime or perpetual "near misses". From the bride's father teaching at the same school the Groom's brother attended, missing each other only by a year. Or the Bride's family on her Grandmother's side, being from the same small town in northern Michigan as the Grandfather of the groom. Just to name a few.
As fate would have it, Christopher felt a strong pull to return to his studies at Columbia College which brought him back into the world of acoustics. Our local Acoustical Society of America (ASA) chapter met every Wednesday to discuss recent events in the acoustics world and to allow us to plan for events, such as the upcoming ASA conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
Christopher had offered to drive anyone that wasn't flying, and a recent newcomer to the group (in fact it was her very first day), along with a couple other classmates, decided to take him up on his offer. Maya had recently changed her major from audio production over to where all the cool kids hung out: Acoustics. This is where their paths crossed for the first time.
From the Kentucky conference, to the next one in San Diego, and all the time in between, Maya and Chris remained good friends and helpful classmates to one another.
After graduation Christopher eventually took a job in Cybersecurity, and Maya began her job search in acoustics. One such job interview took her to Colorado. Flights were cancelled, hotels were booked, and Maya found herself in a new city for the night, without anyone to talk to. Christopher had wished Maya a great trip and good interview when she had arrived in Colorado, but upon finding out about the cancellations, Chris reached out to see what he could do to help. "Just talk with me, I'm a little nervous about being here alone." We haven't stopped talking to each other since that day.
Maya eventually moved to Los Angeles for an incredible job opportunity, but what the universe had tried so hard to make a reality, was now 2000 miles apart. Both realized that the distance made their feelings that much more profound. So began our courtship.
Christopher proposed to Maya on their one year anniversary and are very proud to share this story, and their Wedding Day, with you.
