A guy and a girl walk into a bar.... well let me back up a little. We met in our final year of undergrad at the University of Alabama while bartending together at World of Beer. We were the only two bartenders on the Tuesday night shift. On slow nights, I would sit next to the computer and Tyler would come over – with cup labeled “sexy bartender”—prop his arm up on my shoulder and make jokes to pass the time. Eventually, we began to meet outside of our shift on Monday nights to share drinks and burgers. “Burger Mondays” turned into dates around Tuscaloosa and intentional shift changes to make sure we worked the same nights. At the end of fall semester Tyler prepared to move to Nashville with our future together up in the air. We continued to talk over the holiday break and Tyler asked me to join his family’s New Year’s celebrations in Tennessee. I arrived the day after Christmas to a house full of the Hager family and Tyler’s best friends from home – including his now best man, Carson. After a night out on Broadway dancing around the bars, Carson told Tyler he would be crazy not to date me- what I knew all along ;). With the support of his best friend, he finally came to his senses and asked me to officially be his girlfriend in the MOST romantic place on earth- Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk bar. We dated long-distance for a year and a half as I continued to work on my Master’s degree in Tuscaloosa, and Tyler started his career in Nashville. Two summers later, he asked me to marry him, and the rest is history. I'm forever grateful we didn't listen when they said, "Don't date your co-workers" :)
