Our story began thanks to a scheduling mix-up that turned out to be the best mistake ever. During our third semester of high school, Mayra was unexpectedly switched into Alec’s weight training class. She walked in confused… he pretended to focus on lifting… and somehow, between awkward reps and shy smiles, something clicked.

After our graduation in 2018, life pulled us in different directions—until one day, two months later, Alec sent a message that Mayra still swears she saw coming. He insists he was being bold. Either way, that message turned into a conversation, and that conversation turned into a “this feels different” kind of connection.

On September 12, 2018, we officially started dating, and we’ve been choosing each other ever since.

Today, Alec is a pilot, Mayra is a nurse, and our schedules don’t always agree but our hearts always do. From a surprise class schedule change to a lifetime of love, we’re grateful every day that fate knew exactly what it was doing.
